Naviworks, a virtual training specialist, unveiled its Virtual Augmented Training Platform (VTB-X; Virtual Training Block-XR) for the first time at the '2020 Korea Defense Industry Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as DX Korea)' that opened on the 18th and runs until the 20th.

VTB-X can be combined and customized according to variable training situations and customer needs, just like fitting Lego blocks. It was inspired by toy Lego blocks that allow users to freely assemble the shape they want.

Naviworks' VTB-X, which was unveiled this time, is evaluated to have further upgraded the level of virtual training by incorporating realistic technologies such as extended reality (XR) and mixed reality (MR).

In particular, there was a lot of interest in training services based on a domestic virtual training common framework, automated training scenario creation tools based on multi-agents, multi-training, quantitative briefings based on artificial intelligence (AI), automated post-event reviews, and real-time digital live streaming control.

Above all, it was effective to increase understanding by using the special forces training situation as an example.

It is a method in which a number of trainees, who understand the training situation briefed by the controller through MS Hololens, perform missions through a realistic screen. After the training is over, individual data accumulation and improvement can be made through evaluations of the accuracy of the training, the time required, and the enemy mortality rate.

Naviworks exhibited VTB-X components at DX Korea. These include the head-mounted display-based weather reality (VR) simulator platform (VRSP) and the virtual combat training software 'RealBX'.

When you wear the head-mounted display in VRSP, a runway unfolds before your eyes. With haptic control technology, you can control the virtual instrument panel, which can increase the sense of immersion in training. At this event, a demonstration was held using the UH-60 rotary wing (helicopter) as a model.

Naviworks said, "The VTB-X, which is being introduced for the first time, can be widely applied to defense, public, special operations, and disaster response training, and we expect it to lead the domestic and international XR training market." It added, "We will continue to provide differentiated customized solutions that meet customer needs and domains."
