South Korea is considered the safest country in the world. Behind this glorious title, there are South Korean police who struggle to protect the country by fighting various crimes and public safety scenes.
However, amidst rapidly changing public safety and diverse new types of crime, the public's anxiety is increasing and the police's response is becoming more difficult.
Although efforts have been made to reduce the risk of police officers through various training methods, the safety accident rate is still over 45%, and the reality is that they are exposed to numerous traumatic accidents such as assaults.

Accordingly, the government is actively investing in securing police budget and advancing the training environment to strengthen investigative capabilities and improve response to new types of crimes.
And one of the key elements of that investment is the advancement of training.
In the era of Digital New Deal 2.0, police training is also evolving into a metaverse platform. The metaverse, which has always been a hot topic but has never been applied to actual education/training sites, is now coming directly to our lives as a meta training center.
With the goal of “advancing public security capabilities,” the National Police Agency will conduct a project to build the largest XR (extended reality)-based complex terrorism response training testbed in Korea with the Naviworks consortium for the next five years. This project, which will be conducted on a scale of 20 billion won, is based on the metaverse, where the virtual and real worlds are connected. This means that the real training center is now connected to the virtual training world through online and offline channels.
In the training center where a hyper-realistic real world is implemented through Naviworks’ advanced virtual training platform, VTB-X (Virtual Training Block), trainees receive a preliminary explanation of the mission using MR Hololens and realistic devices. Then, police officers will conduct training by experiencing various scenarios where interaction between trainers and trainers and between trainers and content is possible. This training is controlled in real time, and the training results are automatically analyzed and stored, and managed as a data-based customized education curriculum. Through this series of processes, police officers will be able to maximize their ability to respond to various situations.
Over the next five years, Meta Training Center will be distributed to 18 city and provincial police agencies across the country, including two medium-sized training centers, one large-sized training center, one comprehensive training center, and two mobile vehicle training centers, becoming the standard for the comprehensive training system of the Korean police.
The Naviworks Consortium, which was selected through fierce competition, is comprised of leading players in the Korean IT industry. The host company is Naviworks Co., Ltd., a company specializing in building a leading domestic virtual training metaverse platform and advanced training center. In collaboration with Netflix and Walt Disney, Wizwix Studio, a global content company that has participated in leading works such as Victory Ho and Marvel series, Shinkwang Technology, which has been in charge of producing special vehicles for defense/public agencies for 35 years, BPS Co., Ltd., a company specializing in education/training/evaluation model and scenario design, and KAIST, a leading artificial intelligence research institute in Korea that needs no further explanation, and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, a leading organization in XR encryption and human factor-based training realism maximization technology.
Won Jun-hee, CEO of Naviworks Co., Ltd., expressed his expectations, saying, "With the development of cloud, artificial intelligence, and augmented/virtual reality technologies, the training system of national organizations is now gradually evolving into a metaverse environment." He added, "As it is composed of the best consortium of domestic government, industry, academia, and research institutes, we expect that through this opportunity, an advanced standard system for the Korean police training center platform will be established."
