As the Seoul Metropolitan Government is promoting a project to realize the new continent of Seoul, ‘Metaverse Seoul’ for five years until 2026, Naviworks announced on the 2nd that it has won the first phase of the project, the ‘Metaverse Seoul Phase 1 Construction Service’.

Seoul’s metaverse policy is part of the core strategy in the ‘Future Emotional City’ field presented by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon through ‘Seoul Vision 2030’. As interest in the metaverse has been rapidly increasing, in order to establish a metaverse ecosystem, a Korean-style metaverse integrated platform, core authoring tools, broadband digital twin technology that digitizes the existing real world, and a system in which indoor spaces, facilities, transportation, people, and various goods are digitalized and connected and utilized as assets are required.

Naviworks explained, "We already have the metaverse platform and authoring tools that form the basis of the metaverse world." "In particular, the metaverse platform that Naviworks is pursuing is a B2G/B2B-centered urban metaverse service that can continuously implement a world for various purposes such as administration, culture, tourism, smart work, communication, education, and XR realistic cities that local governments and companies need, rather than a fragmentary event."

The 'Metaverse Seoul Phase 1 Construction Service' project will be held until December 30, and the scope of the project includes the construction of the city metaverse operation infrastructure 'Metaverse Seoul', the configuration of the Metaverse Seoul main map and gate space, the implementation of Metaverse Seoul sector-specific services, the holding of Metaverse Seoul 'Citizen Participation Events', the future development plan and roadmap for Metaverse Seoul, the promotion of Metaverse Seoul activation and promotion to citizens, etc.

Through this, we can expect to utilize it as a new non-face-to-face communication channel in the new normal era in the future, as well as provide inclusive services that all citizens can enjoy without restrictions on time and space, and improve citizens' perception of city administration with highly immersive new technology-based public services.

A Naviworks official said, "Through this project, we expect to take another step forward as an urban metaverse specialized company that connects the virtual and real worlds."

Meanwhile, Naviworks explained that it has been working on the metaverse for a long time, and has been steadily accumulating technology and experience for the metaverse world through XR, starting with the LBS (Location Based Service) business based on the Geographic Information System (GIS).
