(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Im Mina = The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 30th that it will build a portion of the first phase of the 'Metaverse Seoul' virtual convergence technology-based service that is being promoted as a long-term plan and conduct a pilot operation in a closed format from the 31st.

Last October, the Seoul Metropolitan Government established the 'Metaverse Seoul Basic Plan', a five-year plan, and is gradually promoting a project to implement the entire city administration in a virtual world.

This closed test is being conducted for the purpose of finding out user reactions and improving the completeness of the service before officially starting the first phase of the project. The service targets approximately 3,200 people, including the Seoul Metropolitan Government's 'IT New Technology Governance Team'.

During the test operation period, users can experience the metaverse Seoul City Hall and plaza and engage in experiences and activities that are difficult to access in reality.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government lobby is decorated with cute animals that interact with and react to avatars, and an open book cafe space has been created to allow users to read e-books.

At Seoul Plaza, you can enjoy water games and see the city hall exterior, surrounding roads, buildings, and fountains that change depending on day and night mode.
