Naviworks, a virtual training platform specialist, announced on the 24th that it recently won the contract for the ‘Army Engineering School K-1 Bridge Tank Simulator Development Project.’
The K-1 Bridge Tank is equipped with a scissor-type bridge assembly and bridge construction device on top of the K-1 tank body with the turret removed, and is organized into the engineering units of mechanized divisions and armored brigades. Although it is not directly used for combat, it plays a pivotal role in winning battles by building bridges over various obstacles such as rivers, streams, and pits, helping tanks and soldiers easily overcome them.
According to Naviworks, the simulator currently under development consists of a pilot training device, piloting, video, communication, and audio devices, an instructor controller, an equipment room (system storage room), and a software program (bridge tank control, construction device operation scenario, training analysis and evaluation, post-mortem system, etc.), and will similarly implement the characteristics of the actual K-1 Bridge Tank’s ground maneuver and operation.
Additionally, the simulator can control tactical situations in real time, allowing for independent or coordinated training using different or identical scenarios in virtual training.
