Naviworks, a leading company in intelligent integrated control and comprehensive tactical training services, participated in the 'Korea International Defense Industry Exhibition 2024 (KADEX 2024)' that closed on the 6th and introduced its latest technology and solutions.
According to the industry on the 9th, Naviworks has been carrying out about 200 major projects, including defense weapons and combat systems, C4I systems, and virtual training systems, for the past 25 years. Through R&D (research and development), it has secured core technologies such as virtual augmented reality, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, digital twins, the Internet of Things (IoT), and the cloud, and is establishing itself as a system general company in the defense field.
Naviworks recently participated in KADEX 2024 and introduced two major products, METAIEYES and VTB-X. MetaEyes provides situational judgment and command decision functions based on intelligence recognition, and supports control functions utilizing GIS engines and spatial control and analysis through AI and IoT digital twins. In particular, it has significantly improved user accessibility and UX through the transition to web-based services.
Park Ha-yeon, managing director of Naviworks, said, “The Army and Navy are already utilizing the situational control services we provide,” and added, “Currently, they can only be utilized within limited devices, but with this upgrade, we have made it possible to view the operational control situation anytime, anywhere on the web without device restrictions.”
MetaEyes is applied to various command and control systems such as the Joint Command and Control System, the Combined Command and Control System, and the Army Tactical Command Information System. It will present a failure prediction maintenance function utilizing the digital twin of the weapon system through the digital twin control platform. It plans to propose an efficient maintenance plan and optimized resource management method by incorporating artificial intelligence into predictive maintenance performed using the existing TBM (Time-Based Maintenance) and CBM (Condition-Based Maintenance) methods.
The VTB-X, a Korean-style synthetic training environment platform, was also introduced. VTB-X is a core software platform that constitutes the Korean-style synthetic training environment (STE) through global training simulation software and training management tools. It provides training simulations of how individual combat soldiers or weapons are utilized in an actual combat environment. This software supports various scenarios that fit the training purpose through VR (virtual reality), MR (mixed reality), and XR (extended reality) training environments.
In particular, VTB-X utilizes AI technology to automatically generate scenarios and interact with intelligent agents during training, enabling training regardless of the scale. It also proposes AI-based post-review and customized curriculum for each training center, setting a new standard for education and training platforms. VTB-X is being used in various fields such as aviation tactical training simulators, chemical, biological, and radiological reconnaissance vehicle simulators, and police XR terrorism response training centers.
“The AI actually learns operational behaviors that can serve as training models,” said Park. “For example, it can suggest the correct operational behaviors for infantry soldiers to take, such as how to take cover or take a certain shooting stance in a certain terrain feature.”
