AI Transformation (AIX) specialist Naviworks is strengthening industry-academia cooperation to develop defense science and technology based on cutting-edge technologies such as AI.

Naviworks announced on the 18th that it recently signed a business agreement (MOU) with the Defense Science and Technology Cooperation Center of POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) and will begin research and development (R&D) and business cooperation for defense, public, and industrial sectors.

The signing ceremony was held on the 15th of this month on the POSTECH campus with the attendance of Naviworks CEO Won Jun-hee, POSTECH Defense Science and Technology Cooperation Center Director Kim Kyung-tae, and other officials. Both sides agreed that cooperation between leading domestic companies and research institutes is necessary to respond to the rapidly changing global defense technology environment.

In the future, they plan to fully promote industry-academia cooperation such as joint project execution and talent cultivation centered on the ‘Naviworks Digital Twin Technology Center’ to be established within POSTECH. Through this, they plan to jointly seek advancement of future defense industry technologies such as digital twins and synthetic training systems.

Naviworks is applying AI GIS-based battlefield implementation technologies such as the intelligent manned/unmanned complex command and control platform ‘METAIEYES’ and the next-generation intelligent recognition training platform ‘VTB-X’ to defense and public sectors.

Won Jun-hee, CEO of Naviworks, said, “The cooperation with POSTECH will be of great help not only in the development of Korea’s defense science and technology but also in securing competitiveness in the global advanced defense industry market,” adding, “In order to respond to the rapidly changing technological environment, organic cooperation with other organizations beyond independent technological research is essential.”
